App Marketplace Trust Issues

When buying new apps from a centralised marketplace we have to trust that one of the following does not happen:

• Marketplace policy changes

• External regulatory pressures

• Developer ceases to issue updates

• OS level churn causes incompatibility

• Potential sale of developer account, user data or telemetry changes

Dear reader, can you think of any more? I'll add them to the list:

On a side note: hardware that is offloading its UI/setup to a smartphone, without fallback options, cannot be built to last.
